In 2015, the Alliance Française French Film Festival received 157,000 admissions, making the 26th edition the most successful to date.
This year promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Blockbusters and independent films will screen over nine weeks in seven cities and the festival promises to showcase the best contemporary French films, including comedies, dramas and documentaries. The festival will also include glamorous opening nights, Q&As and special events.
The festival is one of the highlights of the Australian cultural calendar and has become highly anticipated and extremely popular across the country.
In Brisbane, the festival will run from Friday 11 March to Sunday 3 April, with screenings every day at both Palace Centro and Barracks. This is the perfect opportunity for Brisbanites to enjoy the best of 2015 French cinema. Melanie Blanquine, Director of the festival in Brisbane, invites you to the opening night on 11 March 11 at Palace Centro Cinemas, with the worldwide exclusivity of the comedy/drama Rosalie Bloom. Followed by a glamourous after-party including champagne, live entertainment, fine French catering and lots of surprises, this is definitely the biggest highlight of the festival!
The festival will feature other special events including a Taste of France evening (Wine & Cheese tasting), an Opera & Champagne event, as well as an exclusive Closing Night with the screening of Contempt, a classic new-wave masterpiece by Godard starring the iconic Brigitte Bardot.
French culture, and in particular French cinema, is more popular in Australia than ever before and the Alliance Française French Film Festival audience includes Australians, French, Francophiles and movie buffs – all keen to experience the latest sophisticated, vibrant and daring films from France.
The Alliance Française is an independent, not-for-profit language and cultural organisation that has been actively promoting a Franco-Australian exchange for over 130 years.
