Brisbane’s 8th Annual Festival of Tibet will be a celebration of resilience and optimism. Founded on the principles of compassion and non-violence, the all-ages festival explores universal themes through concerts, exhibitions, discussions and workshops. Held from 18-24 April at the Brisbane Powerhouse, the theme will be – “Karmic Imprints – Liberation through seeing and hearing”.
The festival will open with the film Bringing Tibet Home and a unique exhibition that brings together artworks from prominent, sought-after and sometimes controversial contemporary Tibetan artists from around the world. Guided by renowned master artist Karma Phuntsok, Karmic Imprints: Liberation Through Seeing will open a window into artists’ minds, some of whom have experienced censorship during their careers. It will also explore the conflicts and synergies that exist between identity, traditions, spirituality and life in the modern world.
The festival will engage with the audience through an enriching range of activities, including morning meditation, Tibetan yoga, chakra healing, woodblock printing, calligraphy and a chance to make some delicious Tibetan momos (dumplings).
