THERE ONCE WAS AN ISLAND

TeHenuaENoho

This is the story of a community facing an impossible decision – flee their beloved homeland forever, or remain and watch as it is slowly swallowed up into oblivion.

Takuu, a tiny low-lying southwest Pacific atoll, is already eroded but as a terrifying tidal flood rips through it, the Polynesian community experiences the devastating effects of climate change first-hand. This film joins three islanders exploring their options – move to an uncertain future in Bougainville, or stay and fight for a different, but equally uncertain, outcome.
