“Deeply involving and emotionally searing” – Variety
The grim past is dug up in this retelling of Henrik Ibsen’s play The Wild Duck, adapted by playwright and theatre director Simon Stone.
In a dying Australian logging town, mill owner Henry (Geoffrey Rush) is shutting up shop, but marrying a younger woman. Home for the wedding, his prodigal son Christian (Paul Schneider) reconnects with his childhood friend Oliver (Ewen Leslie), and is drawn to his wife Charlotte (Miranda Otto) and daughter Hedvig (Odessa Young) – and catches the scent of a suppressed secret that would set the town alight. Anna Torv and Sam Neill round out the powerhouse cast of this poignant tale starring some of Australia’s finest actors.
