Champion of the short film, Flickerfest will once again descend on Brisbane, this year at the Palace Centro from 10 – 11 February.

Flickerfest will feature two programs, The Best of Australian and The Best of International. Funny, tender and powerful, this line-up will leave you feeling completely inspired.

The Best of Australian program features shorts from some of Queensland’s brightest emerging filmmakers including  Flickerfest 2017 winner of the Miller Award for Best Cinematography In A Cane Field, Welcome to Country, a tongue-in-cheek look at a hotshot public servant’s visit to a remote Aboriginal community, the sweet and tender The Boggabilla Bus, the brilliant animation Fish with Legs voiced by Frank Woodley and Barry Otto and Messiah, a playful collision of cultures in the Australian wilderness, written and directed by Damian Walshe-Howling.

The Best of International program brings a selection of film gems from Flickerfest’s Academy Accredited competition. Highlights include: the moving and insightful Nocturne in Black from Lebanon, the mysterious Timecode from Spain, and The Head Vanishes – a beautifully crafted and poignant French Canadian animation. All three films are shortlisted for this year’s Academy Awards.
