Your Name

See this year’s best anime at BrisAsia Festival’s all-Japanese event, Kisaragi-Sai. Chow down at the traditional food stalls, take an origami class, or marvel at the bonsai displays before joining our BAPFF special screening of the gorgeous and complex Your Name. All the action takes place at Roma Street Parkland on 11 February, with the screening at 6.45pm.

Bored with her small-town world in a remote mountain village, Japanese schoolgirl Mitsuha dreams of the big city; while cool Tokyo teen Taki lives the fast-paced, exciting life she craves. It’s unlikely these two would ever be thrown together and even more unlikely that they’d inexplicably start waking up in each other’s bodies.

A critical and commercial hit worldwide, this beautiful hand-drawn anime is sweet, funny and dangerous, as the star-crossed teens must figure out why they’re body-swapping in time to avert a looming catastrophe.

Drawing comparison to the Studio Ghibli hits, Your Name broke Spirited Away’s 15-year record to become the highest-grossing anime of all time. Writer and director Makoto Shinkai’s is an APSA Academy member whose 2007 animation 5 Centimetres per Second won Best Animated Feature, and his 2011 anime Children Who Chase Lost Voices also received an APSA nomination.
